From A New Beginning
by Carol Van Atta
New beginnings can happen any day at any time. A new beginning always involves leaving one thing behind and embracing something new and different. However, sometimes, new beginnings may not be of our own choosing or liking…
It can be excruciatingly difficult to walk through the doorway of a new season in life. How do we effectively live in the midst of a new beginning that we didn’t expect, or even want? (read the article on thelife.com/experience)
Pray for those who are facing a new year full of new beginnings they don’t think they can handle. Give thanks to God as well for the fresh start we each have to commit our lives to Him in 2009.

MONDAY
Post-Abortion Chat Series
January is here and the post-abortion chats are beginning. Please be in prayer for the women who will join the chats, those who will lead and facilitate them and for all those who are not yet ready to attend but need to feel God’s forgiveness. We encourage you to invite anyone who is considering or has already had an abortion.
Online Requests: Teen & Youth Concerns
I am requesting God’s self-control. I am in college and I had anorexia, now I am on to binge-eating. I just want to surrender to God, but I don’t know how. I have been a Christian and have been blessed to have such a support around me. I feel like I am in a constant battle. I am sick of not getting life right. (womentodaymagazine.com)
I am having problems with my mother. We’ve never had the relationship that my friend’s moms have with them. I really envy it and I’ve always wished I could have the same blessing happen to me ever since I was in elementary school. She tends to drink almost every night now and has developed cirrhosis but refuses to stop drinking even though she knows it’s causing her to slowly die. She often tells me that she wants to die. It hurts to hear it and it hurts to see her end the night in tears or even laying on the floor past out. (fromtodayon.com from dmlive.com)
TUESDAY
TruthMedia in 2009
Thank you for your faithful prayers throughout 2008. Please join us in praying for wisdom and direction as we start the new year. Lift up our leadership as they seek the Lord’s vision for the future.
Online Requests: Health & Safety Concerns
My daughter’s friend she is a junior in a Christian college here in Indiana. She is in critical condition with bacterial infection in the blood and pneumonia in both lungs. The doctor is going to administer a drug as a last resort. She needs to be moved to another hospital that has specialized equipment. They are air lifting her to another hospital. Please pray for total healing. (christianwomentoday.com)
My father is admitted in the hospital. He had a cardiac arrest and is in a critical condition. He is put on a ventilator. Doctors lost hope. Medical science has given up on him. Jesus was our hope and He is our hope. We have not given up on faith. My Father was a faithful believer of Christ and in our family most of them do not know Christ. They are mocking us. We want a healing miracle for the Glory of Christ in our family. Please pray for my father. (christianwomentoday.com)
WEDNESDAY
Staff Needs
Please join us in praying that many people would answer the call to join us full-time in ministry this year. The needs are great but God is greater and we trust Him to call those He has chosen.
Online Requests: Family & Financial Concerns
Please pray for my unsaved grandmother who is 88 years old. It is my desire for her to be saved. Please also pray for my mother, aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins, sisters, brothers and the rest of my relatives that they would surrender their lives to Christ. Please pray for our country Jamaica, that the crime and violence may cease. I believe that there is no distance in prayer, and God is a Universal God. Thank you and may God continue to bless you all. (secretsofsuccess.com)
Please pray for the retention of my daughter’s and her co-workers’ jobs in Macau. Right now, the Macau government wants to send all Filipinos to the Philippines because they want to replace them with local hires. We still have a housing loan to pay and if she lost her job, we will not be able to pay our loan in the bank. (secretsofsuccess.com)
THURSDAY
Volunteer Needs in the New Year
We need volunteers! Pray that many people would step out in faith to join as a volunteer mentor, author or chat leader. Get more information on volunteer ministry opportunities from your own home.
Online Requests: Marriage & Relationship Concerns
I want a husband because I am very lonely. In fact, I envy people who have a husband or a wife and I struggle so much with this jealousy. Thank you for praying for me. (secretsofsuccess.com)
Please pray for my friend. Her husband has drinking and psychological problem. He beats her and wants to kill her. Please pray that God would protect her and her two kids, and that He would show her husband what he is doing is wrong. May God save him and give him wisdom to realize his sins. FRIDAY
Financial Needs
Everyone is feeling the strain of the current financial changes worldwide. Please pray that our financial donors would continue to give in faith and that God would provide the funds needed to continue, and even grow, TruthMedia in 2009.
Online Requests: Spiritual Concerns
I feel like my Christian life is stagnant. The Bible seems empty. Please pray that God will help me to fall in love with His Word, and to understand it and get more out of it. Also pray that God will teach me how to pray, and that I will have a desire to have conversations with God. I want to learn to live for God, and be passionate for Him. (secretsofsuccess.com)
I have no idea where I’m at in my spiritual journey. I feel like this: everything I thought I knew, I simply don’t know any more. I know I believe in God. I don’t understand God personally, but I do believe God exists; created all things; and owns all things. I do believe Jesus is exactly who He said He is. I don’t intellectually understand it…but I believe it. Please pray for me that God will grant me direction, and the power and willingness to follow that direction. (powertochange.com)
